Abstract
Effective teacher education programs are pivotal in
preparing future educators, and host teachers play a crucial role in shaping
the practical aspects of this training. This study explores the perceptions of
host teachers involved in mentoring pre-service teachers, focusing on their
views about the effectiveness of teaching practices in teacher education. By
examining the experiences of host teachers, the research highlights the
strengths and challenges of hosting pre-service teachers in real classroom environments.
Through qualitative interviews and surveys, the study uncovers themes related
to mentorship, the development of teaching skills, and the professional growth
of both pre-service teachers and host teachers. The findings suggest that while
host teachers view the mentoring process as beneficial for fostering reflective
practices in pre-service teachers, they also face challenges such as time
constraints, workload, and the need for institutional support. The paper
advocates for a more structured and supportive framework for host teachers to
enhance their role in teacher education programs and to further promote
effective teaching practices. The study concludes with recommendations for
improving collaboration between teacher education institutions and host schools
to optimize the training experience for both pre-service and in-service
educators.
